COBA welcomes Neil O’Brien MP

News

We were delighted to welcome Neil O’Brien, our new MP for Harborough, Oadby & Wigston to our COBA headquarters at Fleckney earlier this month, on 15th September.

COBA’s CEO, Mark Cooke, along with fellow directors, Jonathan Atkinson and Richard Cooke, greeted Mr O’Brien and had the opportunity to take him on a factory tour, giving him an insight of how all our businesses operate, and COBA’s importance, as a manufacturer and employer, to the region.

Mr O’Brien was also shown around some of COBA’s offices and met with other members of our COBA team, whom he chatted to with interest.

Commenting on the visit, Mark Cooke said, “We were really pleased to welcome Neil O’Brien, who was genuinely interested and impressed with our COBA businesses. He viewed our plastics manufacturing, engineering as well as our offices here at Fleckney. We had the opportunity to not only demonstrate our strengths as a manufacturer, but also discuss some of the challenges UK manufacturing faces.”

In terms of his political background, Neil O’Brien is a name many will recognise. He worked within No. 10 for several years and was an adviser to the Prime Minister on the economy, specifically working with employers in the Midlands on the “Midlands Engine” plan.
