About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on individual to join our Maintenance Team as a Maintenance Apprentice.

This is an excellent opportunity to begin a career in engineering and maintenance, working towards the Engineering Maintenance Technician – Dual Discipline Level 3 apprenticeship.

In this role, you will support the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing plant and equipment, developing skills across electrical, mechanical and control systems while contributing to safety, quality and continuous improvement.

You will gain practical, hands-on experience alongside structured training, building a strong foundation for a long-term career in engineering within a manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Activities

  • Assist with planned and preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability
  • Support reactive maintenance and fault diagnosis on manufacturing equipment
  • Help maintain electrical and mechanical systems such as motors, power supplies, pumps, valves and sensors

Safety, Compliance and Quality

  • Work safely at all times following health, safety and environmental procedures
  • Use tools, equipment and PPE correctly
  • Support compliance with industry regulations and company standards

Planning, Records and Communication

  • Prepare for and complete maintenance tasks as instructed
  • Record maintenance work accurately and maintain documentation
  • Communicate effectively with maintenance and operations teams

Learning and Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in off-the-job training and workplace learning
  • Build a portfolio of evidence to support end-point assessment
  • Contribute ideas to improve equipment performance and efficiency
  • Work both independently and as part of a team depending on competence level

 

Personal Specification

Essential

  • GCSEs in English and Mathematics
  • Interest in engineering, maintenance or manufacturing
  • Willingness to learn electrical, mechanical and control engineering principles
  • Commitment to working safely and following procedures
  • Ability to work as part of a team and communicate clearly
  • Reliable, punctual and motivated to complete a 48-month apprenticeship

Desirable

  • GCSEs in Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Interest or experience in practical, hands-on activities
  • Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems

Personal Attributes

  • Safety-conscious with strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn from experienced engineers
  • Organised approach to work and record keeping
  • Interest in developing a long-term engineering career

 

Hours of Work

Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00

Friday: 08:30 – 16:00

39 hours per week (including a 30-minute lunch break)
