Last November, we started production on a new product line, ‘Rimblades Ultra’ for Rimblades Ltd. Rimblades specialise in different styles of products which protect alloy wheels from kerb damage.
Rimblades Ultra is a rim protection and styling product of medium weight. Their aim was to reduce product weight and improve the adhesion of the product to alloy wheels.
Previously Rimblades had been manufactured from PVC. Once production moved over to COBA Automotive, we looked to reduce the weight of the product by manufacturing the product from Santoprene TPV, which has reduced the weight of the product by 25%. An added benefit of using Santoprene TPV is its high resistance to chemicals and abrasion, which prolongs the life and wear of the product.
The tape used to bond to the wheel rim was originally a 3M grade, however not automotive standard grade. We upgraded the tape to one of our high-performance automotive grades, and since this change, Rimblades have reported improved adhesion strength, according to their testing.
Rimblades Ultra is available in 10 different colours, from black to gold, to suit the aesthetic requirements of any car owner.
